Environmental Task Force & Voluntary Sector Option
Description
Participants accessing the Environmental Task Force or Voluntary Sector Options may have been through the Gateway period, but require additional assistance to achieve their job goals or improve their overall employability. The main requirement for people entering these options to achieve employment will be to gain general work experience as they are likely to have little or no work history. Achievement of qualifications is not a priority for these participants. ND18-24 ETF or VSO provisions will provide the experience required by the individual, although we will help by delivering some training to fit the needs of participants gain employment eg CSCS cards, Security Badges, Basic Food Hygiene, etc.
Duration
13 weeks
Attendance Requirements
30 hours per week over 5 days unless agreed restrictions are incorporated in the participant’s Jobseekers Agreement, due to health conditions, care responsibilities, etc. Any variations to this attendance pattern need to be provided in writing.
Lone Parent and IB participants are required to attend a minimum of 16 hours including 4 hours job search per week. However participants are encouraged to increase their attendance throughout their time on provision to 20+ hours including 4 hours job search.
The times of attendance are also flexible and geared around the individuals needs. We usually recommend participants to attend 10am-2pm Monday-Friday.
Eligibility
- Recipients of Jobseekers Allowance aged between 18 and 24 who have claimed JSA for six months.
- Voluntary early entry is available for some participants including people with disabilities, with immigration status, lone parents and partners of people claiming benefits.

Participants then complete workshops as listed below:

During the first week the participant will have a 1:1 with the Employment Liaison Officer. The ELO will hold all the information about the participants job goals from the Referral Interview and Opportunity Request Form, they will have started sourcing a placement/project or job interview for the participant from the Referral point. In the 1:1 a placement/project or job interview will be agreed with the participant and they will start in placement/project on the Monday of the 2nd week.
Whilst the participant is in placement there will be fortnightly reviews carried out, logging the participants progression throughout their time in placement, logging the participants comments, employer comments and raising any issues both parties may have.
The ELO will continue to work with the client addressing any barriers that the participant may be experiencing and working with them to get them into work.
